Local Music Shows on Mixcloud

You can now listen again to the four Local Music Shows that I presented for this years Hastings Rock radio broadcast, in May 2015.

All four shows, minus the adverts, have been uploaded to the Hastings Rock Mixcloud site, which you can find here: https://www.mixcloud.com/HastingsRock/

A full tracklist is provided for each of the shows.

These podcasts can only be streamed and not downloaded, this is to help protect the artists original work.

Other shows from the 2015 Hastings Rock radio broadcast are also available to be listened to again, via the same Mixcloud site.

Here’s the fourth and final Local Music Show, to help whet your musical appetite. Enjoy.

Local Music Show 4 – Hastings Rock 2015 by Hastings Rock on Mixcloud

I Want Your Music

I’ve just read that the application to enable Hastings Rock radio station to return in 2015 is just about to be sent off. That’s great news.

What that means is that it is now time for me to start collecting together new local music for potential airplay during their broadcast. I already have some good tracks in my database, but there’s always room for more.

Apart from tracks to include on my own Local Music Show, I also sort out the local music that is used on Hastings Rock’s ‘A List’ Playlist. These tracks are played regularly throughout the broadcast, alongside all the new releases and album tracks from more established artists.

So, how can you get your music considered for airplay? Well the usual rules apply:

1 – Music must be original material. No cover versions please, they won’t be played.

2 – All songs must be of broadcastable quality and include NO swearing.

3 – Artists must be from the Hastings Rock broadcast area. That is Rye to Eastbourne and inland as far as approx Hurst Green. I may play music from places as far afield as Brighton, Ashford and Tunbridge Wells etc, if space and time allows.

4 – All songs must be on CD, or mp3. A good biog is also very useful.

5 – Your music doesn’t have to be ‘Rock’. I do push the musical boundaries, within reason, during the Local Music Shows, so other genre’s will be considered.

6 – There is no guarantee that your music will be played.

If you think you fit the bill, email me at: andygunton@hotmail.com

One more thing to add. I can’t do interviews, or live sessions, during the Local Music Shows, so please don’t ask.

By the way, Hastings Rock is pencilled in to run between Saturday 2nd and Friday 29th May 2015. Stay tuned for more news.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Andy

Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou

There have been many instances of musicians moving to the Hastings area in recent years. In fact I heard of another well known name, who’s just moved here, only the other day. I’ll leave you in suspense as to who it is….

One act who do now call St Leonards On Sea their home are husband and wife duo Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou. Having said that, they don’t seem to spend a lot of time in their new hometown, as they’ve been touring almost non-stop, with more dates to come in the near future.
In fact they have, literally, just returned from a tour of the USA and Europe with Tori Amos.

In October they go out on tour again, this time in the UK, supporting Danny and The Champions of the World.

If you want to see and hear why they are in such demand as a support act, they have a hometown gig this Sunday, 31st August at the Masonic Hall in St Leonards On Sea. On this occasion they will be the main act, supported by Dan Whitehouse.
I’ve not see Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou live myself, so will certainly be there for this gig. I did however play tracks from their 2012 album ‘La Ferme De Fontenaille’ on both Hastings Rock and Carnival FM recently and can heartily recommend that.

If all the musicians who decide to move to our area are in same class as Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou, I say keep ‘em coming.

Andy Gunton.

Local Music Show – Podcasts

As mentioned in previous posts, I am once again presenting some Local Music Shows on this years Hastings Rock broadcast.

The first two, of four, have already gone out and I have now edited the Podcasts of those shows.

For future reference you can find them on the Hastings Rock Mixcloud page. I shall be posting future shows there as well: http://www.mixcloud.com/HastingsRock/

Here are the first two Local Music Shows.

Local Music Show 2 – Hastings Rock 2014 by Hastings Rock on Mixcloud

Pierless Music and Hastings Rock

We are very pleased to announce that the Pierless Music Gig Guide will be the official gig guide for this years Hastings Rock radio broadcast.

Hastings Rock, which returns to the local airwaves on Saturday, 3rd May, will use the Pierless Music Gig Guide within most programmes during their 28 days on air.

Because of this, and also because of the size of the Hastings Rock broadcast area, we have decided to include more gigs than usual in our online gig guide.

Usually, we only allow gigs from within the traditional ’1066′ area, which doesn’t include Eastbourne for example. But during the month of May we have extended that area to help listeners find out what’s on in their own town.

Please see our updated info page for details of what we will and won’t include:

http://pierlessmusic.co.uk/calendar/about-the-pierless-music-gig-guide/

Don’t forget, if we don’t know about your gig we can’t include it in the Gig Guide. So email those gig details to: gigs@pierlessmusic.co.uk

You can listen to Hastings Rock locally on 87.7FM and also online via their website at:

http://www.hastingsrock.co.uk/

Enjoy the music.

Local Music on Hastings Rock Radio

As you may already be aware, Hastings Rock radio station will be back on the local airwaves, for 28 days, from Saturday, 3rd May 2014.

During the broadcast I shall be doing my usual Local Music Shows on Sunday evenings between 8-10pm. But, I need some original local music to play….

This is where you come in. If you’d like to have your music played on Hastings Rock, please let me know.

The usual conditions apply:                                                                                                  – No cover versions, all songs must be original compositions                                               – Songs must be of broadcastable quality                                                                             – Songs must contain NO swearing                                                                                     – Music must be on CD (preferred), or an mp3 (not WAV)                                                     – The band, or artist, has to be from the Hastings Rock radio/FM broadcast area                 – There is no guarantee that your music will be played

Your music doesn’t have to be ‘Rock’, but the nearer it is to that genre the more chance it has of being played.

On the Local Music Show I’m happy to play Blues, Folk etc, but please don’t send in Rap, Dance, or R and B, as it won’t be played.

When sending your music, please include some kind of biog, social media links, gig info etc.

Contact me via email for more info about sending in your music : andygunton@hotmail.com

Find out more about Hastings Rock at their website: http://www.hastingsrock.co.uk/

PS: I’m sorry, but I won’t be doing interviews with bands or artists, and neither can I do live sessions during my Local Music Shows. I’m afraid there isn’t the technical support, space, or time for that to happen.

Zucchini

2013 is rapidly turning into the year of the reformation. The reformation of local bands that is.

Latest to join this ever growing list are rockers Zucchini, who are getting back together for a one off gig at Flairz, in Hastings on Saturday 23rd November.

I can remember seeing Zucchini several times during their heyday of around 2004 at such venues as The Crypt and I’m sure I’m not alone. I even remember playing their music on Hastings Rock as well. They were a good live band back then, so it promises to be a great night and one to help relive many past memories.

Gig entry is free and doors open at 8pm. See the Facebook Event page for more details:

https://www.facebook.com/events/170239399837984/

Support on the night is provided by Star Scream, Jetpack Elastic and Anal Dave.

The band told me they felt that the time was right for a one off renunion. And as far as I’m aware, there are no plans for further gigs, or recordings.

This gig is also aiming to raise money for the Cancer Research UK charity, a very worthy cause. Any donations will get you a copy of Zucchini’s 2004 album ‘Fallen Star’, which can’t be bad.

I think I’m going to have to dig out my own copy to refresh my memory in time for the gig.

It’s been a while.

Local Music News – June 2013

Here’s my latest column for the Hastings Observer, which was printed in their June 7th edition.

“This months column is going to have a distinct radio theme I’m afraid as that’s what I’ve been doing with myself for much of the month of May. Hastings Rock radio may now be gone from your radio dials once again, but if original local music is your thing you can still hear the four dedicated Local Music Shows that I presented for the station. You can find them all at: http://www.mixcloud.com/HastingsRock/

I had some great feedback about these shows, so I hope that you’ll enjoy them too. You’ll find a great variety of local musical talent within the shows & much that you may not have heard before & hopefully something to make you want to search out any local gigs by the acts. Enjoy.

In other local radio news, Carnival FM will be back on the air for Hastings Old Town Carnival Week (1st to 11th August) and I will presenting a Local Music Show for the station on weekdays between 6 & 8pm. These shows will be featuring live studio sessions from original local acts, as they proved very popular last year. Find out more at: http://www.carnivalfm.co.uk/

One other piece of good news is that the annual RNLI Beach Concerts will thankfully be taking place this year, after some financial concerns. They will be on Saturday & Sunday, 3rd & 4th August.  Let’s hope that summer has finally arrived by then.

Andy Gunton,

Pierless Music & Hastings Rock”

(See our previous post about news of the acts appearing at this years RNLI Hastings Beach Concerts: http://pierlessmusic.co.uk/hastings-beach-concert-line-up/)

Local Music Show Podcasts

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts here on the Pierless Music website I am currently involved with Hastings Rock radio station and every Sunday during May I am presenting a show dedicated to original local music.

I’m pleased to say that I’ve now started podcasting these shows and the first two are now uploaded to the Hastings Rock Mixcloud site for your listening pleasure.

You can find them here:

Latest Hastings Rock’s Cloudcasts on Mixcloud

The remaining two Local Music Shows will also be uploaded over the coming couple of weeks.

You can find out more about Hastings Rock here: http://www.hastingsrock.co.uk/

Enjoy.

Local Music News – May 2013

Here’s my Local Music News column that appeared in the 3rd May issue of the Hastings Observer.

“Just as last month was all about singer/songwriters & possibly the lighter side of the local musical spectrum, this month it’s all about Rock with a capital ‘R’!

You wait for a much promised album from one of Hastings finest exponents of Rock music & then two come along at once.

Just last week Hornet released their debut album “Skies Are Falling”, but only to a select group of loyal fans. The rest of the world has to wait until June for the full album release.
Why? Well the production of “Skies Are Falling” was funded purely by Hornet’s fans via Pledge Music, one of several new ways for musicians to help further their careers, without the need for a traditional record company.
You can still help the band & get your hands on the album before everyone else by visiting: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/hornetdebutalbum

The month of May see’s the release of the eagerly anticipated new 9 track album by local rockers Arivmia, entitled “Echoes From The Wilderness”.
To celebrate this the band have an official album launch gig at The Carlisle on Saturday 11th May. Entry is free & will include a live set by Arivmia, plus support & even an after show party. You can buy your copy of the album on the night too.
Apparently, this is the only local scheduled gig by Arivmia in 2013, so don’t miss out.
More info can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/Arivmia

Both Hornet & Arivmia are bound to be played during May’s 28 day broadcast of Hastings Rock radio, which starts on Saturday May 4th on 87.7FM. As are Otti Albietz & Harvey Summers, who were featured in last months column.
I shall be presenting a dedicated Local Music Show on Sunday evenings between 8-10pm. I hope you can join me.

Andy Gunton,
Pierless Music & Hastings Rock”
